YOUTUBE SPACE

RIO DE JANEIRO

YouTube Space Rio is a collaborative space for learning and content production that occupies a historic port warehouse in Cais do Valongo since 2017. The Rio de Janeiro region is considered a World Heritage site by Unesco.

The interior design project tells the Cais do Valongo story and the ethnicities diversity in Brazil, portrayed in the shades of a great terracotta art work. Made by the artist Maximo Soalheiro, it is complemented by a colorful set of flags hanging by the ceiling over the reception area.

The maritime and beachy climate determines the identity of the central square of Youtube Space. Here, carts with flower boxes and even a mobile kiosk reproduce the festive spirit of the beaches, lagoon and squares in Rio.

– LAÍS DELBIANCO,
ASSOCIATE AND PROJECT DIRECTOR

The central social area is surrounded by recording studios, editing and post-production islands. The invited youtubers can use the best equipment and structure to produce new material to their each individual channel.

The structure dedicated to the learning process and professionalization of youtubers also offers modern class rooms which were decorated with tiles by the carioca group MUDA, and a wide projection room.

The staff area has an office strucutre, caffetteria and decompression space all creatively inspired by the textures and vibrations from the Rio de Janeiro urban style. The main meeting room is a tribute to the carioca modern wave, with soft colours, organic shapes and joinery.
