The interior design of this 71 m² decorated apartment was inspired by the neighborhood where it is located in São Paulo: Higienópolis. Designed for the developer SKR, this project was conceived for those who love the modernist style. We bet on elements characteristic of the architecture that dates back to the 1950s and 1960s, such as the use of natural wood in panels and wainscoting, striking stones, the contrast of textures, and the presence of tactile elements.
In the social area, we integrated the kitchen, laundry room, living room, dining room, and balcony to expand the layout and create a more fluid and illuminated space. The private area, on the other hand, has a suite and a home office that, to offer greater functionality, also houses a guest room.
Upon entering the apartment, the resident finds a kitchen-corridor with built-in cabinets in Caiena Walnut MDF by Duratex, which extend to the laundry room. The medium-toned woodwork contrasts with the polished White Alaska granite that covers the backsplash and the two countertops in the environment and with the light granilite floor. The combination reinforces the vintage concept of the project, but with modern solutions, such as the refrigerator built into the cabinetry.
Higienópolis is one of the most modernist neighborhoods in São Paulo, with buildings by architects such as Artacho Jurado, Vilanova Artigas, and Rino Levi that echo the clean lines, functionality, and integration. Being able to immerse ourselves in this language and translate it into contemporary living was a very rich challenge for TODOS.
Just ahead is the living room with a warmer color palette, composed of a yellow jacaranda armchair and a terracotta metalwork and woodwork structure. The latter has different functions: it is a shelf, a support for the sofa, and also integrates and isolates the home office when necessary.
In the dining room, the wainscoting, a traditional element in the neighborhood’s history, covers the back wall with an off-white finish. The dining area brings together pieces with more organic lines, such as the round table and the Gangorra pendant, designed by Cris Bertolucci. There, we also designed a recess that receives the Vitória-Régia granite sideboard.
For the home office, which can be converted into a guest room, the proposal was to create an environment with a single piece of furniture, with light lines and a hollow structure. The solution integrates the office into the living room and serves as a shelf for both spaces.
The flooring of the social area is repeated in the powder room, as well as the finish of the woodwork that covers the cabinet and half-wall. The countertop, made of levigated São Gabriel granite, accommodates an elegant polished Carrara marble sink, a material that is also found on the side walls. For lighting, in addition to the support sconce, we opted for a tensioned screen that provides a diffuse and homogeneous light.
In the master bedroom, we explored textures to create a cozy environment. The bed, designed by TODOS Arquitetura, has a floating base that projects beyond the mattress. The neutral palette, enriched by earthy tones and the blue of the headboard, reinforces the welcoming and organic feel of the project.
