CASACOR celebrates 35 years of existence in 2022 and we bring to the exhibition our ETÉ Duratex House. In 120 square meters, we created a home full of meanings – Eté means true in Tupi-Guarani, the language of the Brazilian indigenous people – with a large and integrated social area, kitchen, dining room, small home-office and balcony, in addition to a complete master bedroom. The palette displays references of genuinely Brazilian homes, with architectural and decorative elements that refer to the countryside dwellings that we keep in our most affective memories. The space is open for visitation in Conjunto Nacional (a landmark project from 1955 that bears the signature of architect David Libeskind), in São Paulo, until September 11th, 2022.
To make some coffee, bring more chairs to the table to accommodate the whole family, throw the sofa cushions on the living room floor, listen to the loud laughter of children running around the house - there are many types of affective connections that we are used to in a real Brazilian home
A bit of our identity appears in the unusual encounter of materials. The kitchen, for example, combines red marble (Michelangelo Mármores) and cabinetry made with MDF Oásis, a recent launch by Duratex. On the floor, attention is drawn to the terracotta ceramic tiles by Cerâmica Portinari (model Every Brick Stone Mate), which fill the entire space. Table and chairs by Wentz Design and pendant light by Dsgn Selo. Cabinetry by Todeschini made with MDF sheets by Duratex and bathroom hardware by Deca. Metal work by Baltieri.
We left part of the living room below the floor level in order to have an area for the Sunken Sofa, a resource widely used in the 1970s, in which the sofa in a lower position allows a more immersive, informal and welcoming experience. The existing pillar of Conjunto Nacional was integrated into the project as a way of honoring the modernist style. “We dismissed the conventional right angle used in construction, and that made possible to internally embrace this element and also create a garden”, says Ana Dix, development coordinator at Todos Arquitetura.
Desk by Fernando Prado for Dpot, bookcase and table lamp from Galpão Teo. Chair by Juliana Vasconcellos and sisal rug by Botteh. Green armchair by Zanine Caldas and painting by Wallace Pato above the Girafa chair, designed by Lina Bo Bardi and produced by Marcenaria Baraúna. In the background, the soft shade of green on the wall is from Tintas Coral.
Azul Astral MDF sheets from the Velluto line are the launch by Duratex that became the basis for the unconventional wainscoting paneling installed behind the bed by Casapronta. Bedside tables by Olho Móveis Autorais (the base with different woods is by Pair). Armchair and sconce by Studio Rain, floor lamp by Bertolucci and rug by Botteh. Curtains from Donatelli. Painting by David de Jesus do Nascimento. The retro atmosphere is also expressed in the curtains made with dark blue fabric (Donatelli) and in the closet with a corrugated glass back, which allows a visual integration with the bathroom that features bathtub and hardware by Deca.
Inserted in the space of Conjunto Nacional, the project includes a structure made with Steel Frame, technology with low environmental impact and little waste during construction. All framed with MDF sheets model Riga, a launch by Duratex. For the facade, the Todos team created a gable roof, which makes an immediate emotional connection with the visitor. Internally, the sloped ceiling made possible a series of geometric solutions that either define the design of skylights for zenithal light, or visually delimit the living spaces.
This is a 100% Brazilian design house, including furniture, lighting, rugs and fabrics. The choice of artworks, made by curator Beta Germano, follows the common thread of this Brazilianness and brings to the space a selection of talents from the current art and design scene: Zanini de Zanine, Juliana Vasconcelos, Estúdio RAIN, Lucas Recchia, Michel Arnout, Estúdio Alva and Guilherme Wentz are some of the professionals whose creations are featured in the space. The objects selection is by Aldi Flosi with the direction of Maurício Arruda and the participation of our team.
