APARTMENT GUARAMOMIS

A 280 m² apartment, located in a building from the 1980s, underwent a complete renovation that reorganized its layout to accommodate contemporary living dynamics. The project was designed for a couple who value spending time together at home, with spaces capable of hosting gatherings with friends while also providing comfort for everyday life.

The main strategy was to transform the layout of the social area to create greater integration between the spaces. The living room, balcony, and dining area were therefore articulated as a single continuous environment, expanding the perception of space and improving circulation. An existing structural column, initially seen as an obstacle, was incorporated into the composition by receiving a fireplace, turning it into a central element that visually organizes the space.

The flooring also plays an important role in the spatial reading of the apartment. Inspired by references brought by the residents, who were seeking a “modern farmhouse” atmosphere, a porcelain tile that replicates natural wood was chosen. The material was laid in a herringbone pattern, creating movement and subtly helping to define the different areas within the large integrated space.

The kitchen was strategically positioned to connect with the social area without compromising its functionality. The space was designed with a wide range of storage solutions and durable surfaces, featuring sintered stone countertops with a marble finish. Appliances such as the stove, barbecue grill, and range hood reinforce the functional character of the space and its direct relationship with cooking and entertaining. The layout of the cabinets and countertops was carefully planned to optimize circulation and ensure practicality in everyday use.

In the social area, the furniture was selected to balance contemporary pieces with elements rich in history. Antique furnishings were incorporated into the composition, helping to create layers of memory and avoiding the feeling of an overly new or impersonal environment. The curation of the pieces sought to establish a dialogue between proportion, design, and materiality.

The layout of the living room prioritizes different ways of using the space, with seating areas that allow for both collective gatherings and more private moments. The arrangement of the furniture also helps organize circulation and directs the eye toward the room’s focal points, such as the fireplace and the exterior view.

In the private areas, the spaces were designed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, with lighting solutions and materials that reinforce a sense of comfort and tranquility.
