COTOVIA APARTMENT

A Northeastern Brazilian couple with two daughters found in this 149 m² apartment, located in Moema, São Paulo, the ideal setting to begin a new stage of their lives. With a focus on comfort and the expression of their roots, TODOS Arquitetura transformed the newly delivered property into a warm, colorful home full of personality.

The main guideline was to create a large, integrated living space, connecting the living room, kitchen, and balcony into a single fluid and luminous environment. The result is a social area that opens up for interaction and reflects the family’s vibrant energy. Colors, a strong part of the residents’ personality, appear in varying intensities across the custom joinery, walls, and loose elements such as the dining chairs, sofa, and decorative objects.

The Cotovia apartment celebrates the encounter between roots and modernity — a home where color, culture, and affection build belonging

Inspired by the clients’ Northeastern heritage, the project revisits traditional constructive elements from warmer regions, reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens. The mashrabiya on the powder room ceiling brings lightness; the slatted wood panel in the entrance hall defines transitions between spaces; and the woven cane detail applied to the master suite’s cabinetry reinforces the connection to artisanal craftsmanship.

In the private area, the design celebrates individuality. The daughters, aged 8 and 10, received separate bedrooms for the first time, featuring similar layouts, auxiliary beds and built-in desk organizers, yet distinct color palettes and details that express their unique personalities.

The main bedroom serves as a counterpoint to the rest of the apartment: a calm, neutral retreat amid the vibrancy of color. Conceived as a place for rest and focus, it combines a light, serene atmosphere with a generous workspace, balancing relaxation and functionality.
